Area Chief Engineer
Loveland, Colorado Salary Range: $60,000 to $75,000 The Area Chief Engineer oversees maintenance operations for multiple hotels, including systems such as refrigeration, heating, plumbing, and energy controls. This role ensures all maintenance activities are performed to the highest standards, supporting the General Managers and ensuring a well-maintained property that meets guest expectations. Essential Functions and Duties: Provide professional and courteous guest service at all times. Supervise maintenance operations for systems such as refrigeration, heating, plumbing, water treatment, and hotel equipment. Monitor energy consumption (electric, gas, oil, water) and ensure efficient use. Oversee all contracted services (electrical, plumbing, cleaning) to meet hotel standards and guest expectations. Hire, supervise, and develop maintenance staff, ensuring timely project completion across properties. Coordinate activities with Housekeeping and Security, managing key inventory and safety protocols. Train staff in emergency procedures and maintain safety compliance. Assist with project planning and work closely with architects, contractors, and construction teams. Manage maintenance agreements and contracts, including landscaping and snow removal. Develop and maintain maintenance programs for guest rooms, public spaces, and back-of-house areas. Perform inventory management, purchasing duties, and develop departmental budgets. Ensure cleanliness and organization of all workspaces, attending meetings and completing projects as assigned by General Managers. Required Experience, Education, and Skills: Minimum of 2-4 years of experience in hotel engineering or maintenance, with a focus on managing multiple properties. Excellent problem-solving and project management skills. Experience working with contractors, vendors, and managing maintenance agreements. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, for working with staff, management, and external stakeholders. Proficiency in budgeting, inventory management, and purchasing. Ability to respond quickly in emergency situations and make decisions that impact guest safety and operational costs. Work Environment: Work will involve both indoor and outdoor environments, with exposure to varying temperatures. Frequent walking, standing, and lifting of objects up to 50 lbs. Must be available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed, including on-call for emergencies. Regular exposure to noise, vibration, and mechanical equipment in maintenance operations.
