Structural Welder 2nd Or 3rd Shift (One Or More Positions) - Nbgtx
Division: Nucor Building Systems Texas Location: Terrell, TX, United States Basic Job Functions: Welding steel structural parts as specified per drawings or prints. Operating grinder to prepare and finish welds. Operating overhead flip-rite cranes, transfers, and magnetic drills. Full visual inspection of parts ensuring all welds are in place and properly applied. Effectively communicating with upstream and downstream customers to address safety, quality, and efficiency issues/concerns. Obtain and maintain the GMAW 2G welding certification. Properly perform and pass NDT welds and inspections as required. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the US. Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times. Minimum Qualifications: WQ1 (2G) weld certification. High school diploma or G.E.D equivalent. Detailed Selection Criteria: Controlling machines and processes: setting up the welding machine to ensure proper welding within specifications. Dependability: being reliable, responsible, and committed to fulfilling obligations. Problem solving and judgement/decision making: identifying problems and analyzing or reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options. Time management: effectively managing time, prioritizing, and adjusting as necessary. Mechanical: basic mechanical knowledge of GMAW welding machines, equipment, and consumables. Teamwork: working as part of a coordinated effort with others to achieve a common goal. Attention to detail: thorough in accomplishing tasks and taking care to meet expectations. Organizing, planning, and prioritizing work: developing specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish work. Communication skills: the ability to give full attention to what others are saying and effectively communicate information. Initiative: willingness and confidence to take on responsibilities and challenges in an optimistic and proactive fashion. Preferred Qualifications: Can read and understand weld symbols. Can use an arc gouger. Previous crane certification. Previous experience in material handling. Must have supervisor and/or manager recommendation and must be able to perform all essential functions of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.
