Wayne State University is searching for an experienced Academic Advisor I - Math SS Coach at its Detroit campus location. Essential Functions (Job Duties):
Supporting scheduling of undergraduate courses. Overseeing recruitment and retention efforts with student support coordinators serving as members of the recruitment staff. Triaging questions and concerns directed to the Math Department. Networking with advisors in CLAS, Engineering and Education to meet student needs. Facilitating communication among different University entities. Tracking student success data. Coordinating CEEM's intervention strategies for students at risk. Overseeing the hiring and supervision of CEEM's undergraduate teaching assistants. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree with either a major or very strong background in Mathematics. Additional credit earned for graduate work in Mathematics desirable. Experience in teaching, tutoring, and/or advising is highly desirable. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Strong administrative skills. Ability to establish and maintain rapport with students from diverse backgrounds. Computer literacy: strong knowledge of Microsoft Office programs and Banner preferred. Ability to use judgement when dealing with confidential information. School/College/Division:
