Job Summary/Description: KKTV has an immediate opening for a meteorologist to join our 11 Weather Alert Team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for delivering accurate and compelling weather forecasts to our community in southern Colorado, with comprehensive weather coverage for our newscasts, streaming updates, digital and social content, and breaking weather coverage. Duties/Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Analyze weather data and prepare accurate, informative forecasts Use WSI graphic systems to create content supporting the forecast and prepare for a variety of presentations Cover severe and breaking weather situations across all platforms Develop and post unique weather content to station website, social media accounts, and apps Flexibility in scheduling to cover severe weather or fill in for other weather team members Responsible for creating original/creative content for our digital platforms daily Responsible for creating engaging weather content on our TikTok, Instagram, and other social media accounts Work closely with the Chief Meteorologist, news management, and newscast producers Qualifications/Requirements: Previous on-air experience required. BS in Meteorology/Atmospheric Science. An engaging and comfortable on-air personality. Ability to use judgment to prioritize tasks and assignments. Ability to communicate effectively with newsroom managers, producers, and co-workers. Ability to report and forecast weather accurately and creatively under deadline pressure.
