Responsible for directing the day-to-day management, development and operation of the production treatment or the distribution and metering of water and/or wastewater operations for the Company. Key Accountabilities include: Distribution/outside Commercial: administration, inventory control, supplier relations and contract integrity. Assists in planning and construction of extensions and improvements to the distribution system. Provides for meter readings, including installation, removal and repair, periodic testing and reading schedules. (50%) Programs and directs the efficient and reliable operation, maintenance, protection and appearance of all water supply facilities, impoundments, watersheds, pumping, treatment, booster and storage facilities and properties. Assists in the planning and construction of new production facilities. Plans and prepares that portion of the Company's budgets within the area of responsibility. Manage employee and labor relations within the area of responsibility. May serve as spokesman in union contract negotiations. Prepares, files and maintains reports and records relating to the production and distribution of water and water service. Develops a sound organization staffed with able and motivated employees and provides for or trains suitable replacements. Ensures that policies, procedures, programs, standards of performance and approved objectives are adhered to and/or achieved, including those involving safety, affirmative action, community and labor relations. (50%) Knowledge/Skills include: Knowledge of Water Distribution system operations, Engineering and Construction concepts, Accounting and budgeting principles. Experience/Education includes: Bachelors degree preferred. High School Diploma or GED required. Previous work experience that provides the knowledge and exposure to water distribution system operations, engineering and construction concepts, accounting and budgeting principles and the ability to direct the day-to-day operation of production treatment, distribution and metering of water or waste water operations for American Water preferred Must have a valid driver's license Travel Requirements include: Local travel within the service territory Role has responsibilities for Rosiclare, IL and Hardin county. Other includes: Water and/or wastewater certification preferred. Experience working in a union environment preferred. Previous experience managing union-represented employees preferred Class A operator's license preferred Class 1 Wastewater preferred Work Schedule includes: Monday-Friday, Day shift On-site Availability to respond to work-related calls and emergencies 24/7 as needed Competencies include: Prioritizes & Role Models Safety Self-Awareness Develops Talent Plans, Aligns, & Directs Drives Engagement Decision Quality
