Pharmacist Position

SSM Health Rehabilitation Hospital, a joint venture between Select Medical and SSM Health, is seeking a pharmacist for a per diem position in Bridgeton, MO. The schedule includes every other weekend, Saturday/Sunday, 1:30 PM to 4:30 PM, with holiday requirements of one major and one minor holiday. Compensation is $61 per hour. The pharmacist will work under the direct supervision of the Director and will have a working knowledge of all areas of pharmaceutical services provided by the hospital, including drug distribution systems, central operations, and IV admixture. Specific duties include: Performing all dispensing related functions. Entering medication orders into the computer generated patient profile, preparing, labeling, and dispensing individual medications in accordance with doctor's prescriptions. Compounding oral and injectable pharmaceutical preparations using proper aseptic technique, and filling and checking medication cassettes to insure accuracy prior to delivery to the patient care unit. Preparing weekend and day pass medications for patients on leave from the hospital. Contacting and conferring with physicians regarding any questions or irregularities regarding medication orders. Documenting all recommendations and corrective actions taken in a clinical intervention report. Performing antibiotic stewardship activities by reviewing pertinent culture and sensitivity information as well as laboratory data and making therapeutic recommendations based upon these findings. Keeping informed on developments and trends inside and outside the organization which relate to assigned functions. Serving as a resource to other departments for information needed. Participating in and contributing to outside professional activities or other projects. Consulting with physician and nursing staff concerning availability, form, side effects, and incompatibilities of currently available drugs. Maintaining drug literature source to be at disposal of medical and other professional staff. Performing other duties as required. Minimum qualifications include: Current state licensure as a pharmacist required. Pharmacy experience in a hospital/healthcare environment preferred. Willing to work weekends and holidays as needed. Five years of experience preferred. Pharm D or BS Pharm plus advanced degree or completion of hospital pharmacy residency is preferred.
