Senior Mechanical Engineer - Hydropower
In this role, you will have the opportunity to act as a mechanical design engineer and project engineer for hydropower projects. You will provide strategic advice and technical design and engineering consultation for new and upgrade hydropower projects for energy owners, including: Hydro Turbine Upgrades Pumped Energy Storage Dam and Pipeline Projects, Including Radial Gates and Large Valves Generator Cooling Systems Raw Water Systems, Including Pumping Equipment Turbine and Generator Bearings Control Air Systems Bearing Oil Systems Black & Veatch has delivered hydropower solutions worldwide for more than 40 years. We've produced results on nearly 500 projects and more than 50,000 megawatts in hydropower design. Preferred Qualifications: 8+ years of mechanical engineering experience, including 6 years in hydropower or related field. Previous experience with engineering projects in a utility power plant setting. Experience in design and operation support of conventional and hydroelectric generation stations. Prior work with Finite Element Analysis (ANSYS) software Previous experience in a client facing role. Minimum Qualifications: Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering from either a recognized accredited program in their home country or the country in which the professional is practicing. Minimum of 8 years related work experience. All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations. Certifications: Most positions - depending on the nature of work performed as defined by the division - will typically require incumbents to have professional registration or licensure in their designated home office country, or be in active pursuit* of such registration. Work Environment/Schedule: Hybrid or flexible work options may be offered after the first 90 days of employment based upon manager discretion, job performance and work assignments. This opportunity will be based out of our Rancho Cordova (Sacramento), CA office. This role may require up to 10% travel
