Extended Case Management Intern

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) responds to the world's worst humanitarian crises, helping to restore health, safety, education, economic wellbeing, and power to people devastated by conflict and disaster. Founded in 1933 at the call of Albert Einstein, the IRC is one of the world's largest international humanitarian non-governmental organizations (INGO), at work in more than 40 countries and 29 U.S. cities helping people to survive, reclaim control of their future and strengthen their communities. A force for humanity, IRC employees deliver lasting impact by restoring safety, dignity and hope to millions. If you're a solutions-driven, passionate change-maker, come join us in positively impacting the lives of millions of people world-wide for a better future. The IRC's Extended Case Management (ECM) Program provides case management services for up to 12 months to refugees and asylees who have special needs, such as significant medical needs, that cannot be fully addressed through standard resettlement services. Through a strengths-based, client-centered model of service delivery, the ECM program aims to increase self-reliance and community integration among our most vulnerable clients. Services include connecting them with internal and external resources, closely monitoring their progress through a series of assessments, and helping them achieve the long-term goals through their service plan. Please note that all internship positions are unpaid. The ECM Intern will assist caseworkers with the following tasks: Map community assets and help make referrals to community partners Assist in scheduling medical appointments for clients Educate clients on U.S. healthcare and social service systems Assist clients in applying for social service assistance programs Input client information into IRC's database Communicate client concerns with ECM staff and coordinate service plan with supervisor Other duties as assigned
