Boise Regional Medical Center Summary: Performs the basics of polysomnographic testing and associated interventions under the direct supervision of a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist. Requirements: Must be enrolled in an Accredited Sleep Technologist S.T.A.R program through the AASM, or RRT or RPSGT. Registry in Polysomnography, Respiratory Care or EEG required within 3 years of hire. Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross is required. (ACLS and/or PALS may be accepted in lieu of BLS) Certified or registered as a Polysomnographic Technologist (CPSGT or RPSGT) by the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (BRPT) preferred. Two years of healthcare experience preferred. Audio-visual experience preferred. What You Will Do: Follows procedural protocols (e.g., Multiple Sleep Latency Test (MSLT), Maintenance of Wakefulness Test (MWT), parasomnia studies, PAP and oxygen titration) to ensure collection of appropriate data. Revenue management: ensures the accuracy of documenting services and supplies provided to the patients. Follows "lights out" procedures to establish and document baseline value (e.g., body position, oxyhemoglobin saturation, respiratory and heart rates). Performs polysomnographic data acquisition while monitoring study-tracing quality to ensure signals are artifact-free. Identifies and reports signal abnormalities. Documents routine observations, including sleep stages and clinical events, changes in procedure, and other significant events in order to facilitate scoring and interpretation of polysomnographic results. Assists with appropriate interventions (including actions necessary for patient safety and therapeutic intervention such as continuous and bi-level positive airway pressure, oxygen administration, etc.) Follows "lights on" procedures to verify integrity of collected data and complete the data collection process (e.g., repeats the physiological and instrument calibrations and instruct the patient on completing questionnaires). Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to recognize and provide age specific care in the treatment, assessment, and education of neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients. Completes visit notify, task entry and task completion in powerchart.
