Responsibilities of an Assistant Teacher include the following: Assisting the classroom lead teacher in establishing and maintaining a safe, healthy, and nurturing learning environment, and being primarily responsible for the cleanliness of the classroom Supporting each child's social and emotional development Establishing and maintaining positive and effective family relations Working cooperatively with the classroom lead teacher, other teachers and resources, and the center's directors and owner Qualifications: High school diploma (required) Previous childcare center, summer camp, or school-age care experience (highly preferred) CDA, Associate or Bachelor of Arts in Early Childhood Education or related field (preferred) Dependable and adaptable; enjoy working together toward a common goal (required) Show empathy and compassion for young children (required) Good written and verbal communication skills for preparing daily reports and interfacing with parents (required) Able to lift up to 50 lbs. in connection with the handling of children for programs, child safety, and emergency situations.
