Location: Catskill, NY Pay Rate: $65$80 Per Hour + Benefits At Phaxis, we believe every student deserves full access to education through clear communication. As a K12 Teacher Of The Deaf And Hard Of Hearing serving the Catskill, NY area, you will design and deliver specialized instruction, consult with school teams, and empower students to reach their academic and social potential. Key Responsibilities: Conduct audiological and language assessments; interpret data to guide instruction Develop, implement, and monitor a students IEP goals focused on listening, speech, language, and social skills Provide direct instruction in listening and spoken language, American Sign Language (if bilingual certification), and speechreading Coach general education teachers and support staff on accommodationse.g., FM systems, captioned media, seating plans Train and support the students family in carry-over strategies for home and community settings Collaborate with audiologists, SLPs, and other related-service providers to coordinate comprehensive support Monitor and troubleshoot the students hearing technologies (FM/DM systems, hearing aids, cochlear implants) Participate in IEP meetings, staff development, and transition planning for post-secondary success Job Details: Position:
Contract role in a school setting (option to extend into the 20252026 school year based on mutual interest) Hours:
5 hours per day, 25 hours per week Caseload:
One student identified as deaf or hard of hearing Successful Candidates Possess: Valid New York State certification as a Teacher Of The Deaf And Hard Of Hearing (required) Bilingual (ASL/English) certification or strong proficiency in ASL (preferred) Experience with auditory-oral and/or total communication methodologies Knowledge of IDEA regulations and state special education guidelines Excellent collaboration, problem-solving, and communication skills Authorization to work in the U.S. without sponsorship Phaxis Benefits: Day One Coverage:
