The Department of Pediatrics, Division of Nephrology and the Division of Gastroenterology, Joe R. & Teresa Lozano Long School of Medicine at UT Health San Antonio, is recruiting an advanced practice provider (physician assistant or nurse practitioner) to join their faculty. The candidate must be eligible or currently licensed as a Physician Assistant or Registered Nurse Practitioner in Texas and credentialed by the State to practice as an inpatient Advanced Practice Provider at Transplant Inpatient Service. Prescriptive authority is recommended. The Pediatric Transplant Program is a leading transplant program in the State of Texas and the nation. Patient's and allograft's survivals are meeting or exceeding the national outcome benchmarks. The Pediatric Transplant Inpatient Service includes both kidney and liver transplantation. Duties of the selected candidate include but are not limited to: Admitting patients to the Pediatric Transplant Service with timely history and physician exam documentation. Daily inpatient rounds with both the kidney and liver transplant teams, order writing, care documentation, and management of routine care needs. Participate in various nephrology and gastroenterology division meetings. Anticipate Monday to Friday schedule with sharing of weekend coverage. The advanced practice provider will be appointed as a Specialist. Qualified advanced practice provider candidates must have completed an accredited training program in physician assistant studies or in a nurse practitioner curriculum and must possess a Texas license as a nurse practitioner or physician assistant.
