GENERAL DUTIES: Maintains self-competency to cover bench duties as needed Trains staff and other learners as needed; assists with conducting staff competency assessments Operates all analyzers per prescribed procedures as it relates to patient testing, maintenance, quality control protocols Oversees daily clinical and quality processes, including but not limited to, Quality Control review and interpretation, Proficiency testing process, Daily, Weekly, Monthly, As Needed maintenance, troubleshooting, corrective action as needed; Provides technical guidance to technicians/technologists when problems occur. Monitors the effectiveness of Performance Improvement initiatives, reports to staff and management on the results Escalates/communicates appropriately to laboratory leadership Write and revise procedures/policies as needed Serves as point of contact to medical staff and nursing, regulatory/compliance agencies, HIS/LIS departments Assists with the validation and verification of new test systems, lab equipment, and new test methods including all documentation elements per accrediting agency requirements Manages supply inventory to include ordering, receiving and storage of supplies Reports patient results timely and accurately utilizing appropriate tools to evaluate data (e.g. Delta Checks) Demonstrates knowledge of applicable regulatory standards to ensure compliance: (CAP, JCAHO, CLIA, OSHA, State, FDA, AABB); Participates in CAP surveys as directed Schedules employees within specified lab section(s) in accordance with staffing plan and care/service needs. Performs any duties within the scope of practice as assigned in routine, unusual or emergency situations. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Clinical Lab Generalist licensed by Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners as CLG or CLS WORK SHIFT: Variable Hours (United States of America) LCMC Health is a community.
