Position Summary
The Forklift Team Lead is responsible for overseeing a team of forklift operators, ensuring safe and efficient movement of materials and products within the warehouse. This role combines hands-on equipment operation with leadership duties, including task coordination, safety enforcement, and communication with warehouse management. Key Responsibilities
Lead and direct daily activities of forklift operators, ensuring productivity and safety standards are met. Operate forklifts and other material handling equipment to load, unload, and move materials as needed. Assign work orders, monitor task progress, and assist team members to ensure timely completion. Train and mentor new and existing forklift operators on safe driving, material handling, and standard operating procedures. Inspect forklifts and equipment daily, reporting maintenance needs or safety concerns. Maintain accurate documentation related to inventory movements, receiving, and shipping logs. Monitor adherence to warehouse safety policies and OSHA regulations. Collaborate with warehouse supervisors and other team leads to coordinate workflow and resolve issues. Support continuous improvement efforts by identifying and suggesting process efficiencies. Ensure cleanliness and organization of work areas and storage locations. Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required. 2+ years of experience operating forklifts in a warehouse or distribution environment. Prior leadership or team lead experience preferred. Valid forklift certification (or ability to obtain). Strong understanding of warehouse operations, inventory practices, and shipping/receiving processes. Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills. Ability to lead by example and motivate a team. Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs., stand/walk for extended periods, and work in varied temperatures.
