AbbVie Postdoctoral Fellows serve as technical experts who investigate, develop, and optimize new methods and techniques to address critical project or functional area needs. Participants will improve existing or develop new laboratory methods and processes, read and adapt literature to accomplish assignments, and should have mastery of a range of experimental techniques and data analysis specific to their area of expertise. The postdoctoral role involves designing and implementing algorithms for anomaly detection, segmentation, and classification to contribute to the development of accurate and efficient AI-assisted digital pathology readouts. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in computer science, engineering, or a related field, with emphasis on computer vision and deep learning. Strong analytical skills, a track record of publication in high-impact journals, and an ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team is essential. Key responsibilities include generating new research strategies, collaborating with experts, maintaining productivity, writing and communicating research materials, resolving research hurdles, publishing research, and demonstrating responsibility in laboratory practices. Basic qualifications include a PhD in computer science, biomedical engineering, pathology informatics, or a related field with emphasis on computer vision and machine learning, proficiency in programming languages, and experience with machine learning frameworks. Preferred qualifications include research experience with advanced machine learning architectures, experience with representation learning and explainable AI solutions, and familiarity with digital pathology software. Key leadership competencies include building relationships, learning fast, raising the bar, creating a learning environment, embracing innovation, and managing to reality. Candidates progressing to the final round of the interview process will be asked to provide three letters of recommendation and a letter of intent to pursue the postdoctoral position.
