Under the direction of the Quality Control Supervisor, the Quality Control Inspector works independently or in a team of Inspectors/Production Associates within the functional area of the metals or felt value stream. Responsible for the visual, manual, and mechanical inspection of products and/or materials identifying defects/deviations from specifications in accordance with established procedures and guidelines. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
include the following. Reads, interprets, and adheres to quality control procedures and standards Reads and interprets blueprints and/or shop drawings and uses precision measuring tools (such as: calipers, micrometers, etc.) to verify parts and/or material meet specification. Reads and interprets manufacturing drawings, prints, and specification Perform visual, manual, and mechanical inspection of products and/or materials Identifying defects/deviations from specifications and initiate non-conformance reports, and follow issue through to completion; provides communicating regarding repair/re-work to production supervisor Documents inspection results by completing reports and logs; summarizing re-work and waste; inputting data into quality database in accordance with the Quality Management System. Completes, maintains, and organizes QA/QC documentation and records Inspects incoming materials by confirming specifications; conducting visual and measurement tests; rejecting and returning unacceptable materials. Approves finished products by confirming specifications; conducting visual and measurement tests; returning products for re-work; confirming re-work as needed. Maintains measurement equipment and coordinates calibration and repairs. Maintains safe and organized work environment by following standards and procedures Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical publications. Other duties as assigned. Supervisory Responsibilities None Travel None Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Possess basic arithmetic skills Possess knowledge of personal computers skills. Proficient use of measuring tools and have a working knowledge of precision measuring tools such as: (tape measurer, calipers, micrometers, etc.). Must follow all company policies and procedures Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while balancing multiple projects. Communication and people skills; team player willing to learn. Ability to work in a manufacturing environment (i.e., ability to wear required PPE, work in a dusty, hot, non-climate-controlled environment; with stairs, frequent walking, standing and occasional lifting of material). Ability to work off shift hours in support of plant initiatives. Must be able to demonstrate proficiency in core production roles within 90 days of hire. Office Environment - This position may operate in a professional office environment and is not exposed to adverse environmental conditions. This role may use standard office equipment such as computers, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines in a limited capacity. No PPE is required. Plant Environment - This position operates in a manufacturing setting and can be subject to extreme cold and hot temperatures; uneven walking surfaces with cords, tools, and other obstacles; intermittent loud noises; and dusty/dirty conditions. Where applicable PPE is required. PPE includes hard hats, safety glasses, earplugs, steel toe/composite boots, and fall protection. Education and/or Experience High school diploma or GED (required) Minimum of 1 year of quality experience in metal fabrication or architectural industry (preferred) Experience with powder coatings and finishes (preferred) Familiar with various forms of sheet metal, welding, cutting, milling or related processes (preferred) Certificates, Licenses, Registrations CalOSHA 10 a plus OSHA Forklift Certification a plus CPR & First Aid Certification a plus
