Nashville Veterinary Specialists in Nashville, TN is looking to add a Veterinary Assistant to our ER Team! Position Responsibilities: Patient care and triage: Prioritize patient care by performing basic triage, checking in ER patients, determining acuities, and ensuring proper history documentation in EzyVet. Client and team coordination: Obtain client signatures for estimates, support front desk staff, and liaise between the ER and front desk teams to address questions and patient-related issues. Patient discharge and records: Assist with patient discharges, ensure all patient records are attached, and manage the transfer of STAT patients when needed. Regulatory compliance and reporting: Stay current on DEA/controlled drug laws, report medication errors or patient concerns to the Patient Care Manager, and complete necessary competency tests and training. ER communication and patient flow: Answer ER phone calls, assist with STAT patient needs, and ensure smooth patient flow from arrival to treatment. Requirements: Highly skilled in veterinary triage, diagnostics and nursing Must have a strong veterinary medical knowledge and a detailed understanding of common disease processes and pharmacology Must be able to perform quick and efficient diagnostics, treatment, and procedures Must be exemplary in customer service, critical thinking, team-oriented attitude Have at least 3+ year(s) of veterinary hospital experience or combination of experience and education Licensed Technicians preferred but not required Fluent English skills (speaking & reading) are required for the role; fluency in multiple languages a plus At NVS, we're not just colleagues; we're a supportive community that celebrates victories together, both big and small.
