Clinical Interventionist, School of Medicine / Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation

The Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation is seeking a clinical interventionist to deliver a brief telehealth educational and behavioral intervention for caregivers of Veterans or Military Service Members with traumatic brain injury. The Resources for Enhancing All Caregivers' Health-Traumatic Brain Injury (REACH-TBI) is a randomized waitlist controlled clinical trial to evaluate the effectiveness of the intervention. The project is funded by the Department of Defense, TBI and Psychological Health Research Program. Core Responsibilities: Deliver the REACH-TBI intervention. Correspond with research participants and schedule study visits. Conduct brief screening calls to address any potential safety concerns. Provide the intervention over the course of six study encounters. Appropriately document encounters. Participate in team-based study activities. Meet regularly (weekly) to review study progress and related issues. Engage in regular supervision with the medically/psychologically responsible investigator. Complete necessary trainings and maintain certifications. Complete the standardized REACH coach/interventionist training. Complete/maintain other necessary regulatory and compliance certifications. Minimum Hiring Standards: Bachelor's degree or equivalent applicable combination of training, education and experience required. At least 1 year of relevant experience. Demonstrated ability to work in and foster an environment of respect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a team member at VCU. Maintain advanced understanding of clinical research management duties from study initiation to closeout. Maintain current CITI credentials for Human Subjects Protections, Good Clinical Practice (GCP), Clinical Research Coordinator, plus additional sponsor GCP certifications as required. Understand and adhere to all IRB requirements, Human Subjects protection regulations, and all aspects of IRB approved protocols. Serve as an ongoing resource for providing information and expert advice on clinical research issues. Follow VCU internal processes to ensure compliance with VCU policies related to research activities and ensure compliance with federal and state regulatory standards. Preferred Qualifications: Background in a health profession (e.g., counseling, rehabilitation therapies, nursing, or related field) Experience in delivering educational, preventive or therapeutic treatments/interventions Evidence of excellent initiation, interpersonal and organizational skills Evidence of excellent communication skills, both oral and written Interest and commitment to improving the lives of Veterans and/or civilians with acquired disabilities and/or their families Evidence of working well as part of a research project or team This position is open until filled. This is a restricted position with no set end date; continued employment is dependent upon project need, availability of funding, and performance.
