Community College Access Program (CCAP) & Scholarship Coordinator
Virginia Western Community College is a two-year public institution of higher education operating under the Virginia Community College System, a statewide system of community colleges. The College operates under the policies established by the State Board for Community Colleges and the Virginia Western Community College Local Advisory Board. Virginia Western is located on a 70-acre campus in southwest Roanoke, VA. The service region of the College includes Roanoke, Salem, Roanoke County, Craig County, Franklin County, and southern Botetourt County. The College was established in 1966 and has grown from an initial enrollment of 1,352 to its current annual enrollment of over 9,000 students in credit courses and more than 1,400 enrollments in fast-track workforce and continuing education courses. Virginia Western is accepting applications for a full-time Community College Access Program (CCAP) & Scholarship Coordinator. This position facilitates the CCAP, the Foundation's Scholarship Program and the Foundation's Student Emergency fund. Minimum Qualifications: Familiarity with various scholarship types, donor restrictions and reporting, grant guidelines and other financial aid sources. Working knowledge of accounting and reconciliation processes. Proficiency in using accounting software and Microsoft Excel to track expenses and manage budgets. Ability to effectively communicate with students, parents and other stakeholders. Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively. Ability to provide helpful and supportive service to students and parents. Knowledge of the higher education landscape and student needs. Familiarity with state and federal financial aid application process, terminology and regulations. Experience independently managing ongoing programs and special projects with short- and long-term deadlines. Experience administering college scholarship programs, other financial aid and related budgeting. Experience using accounting software or Microsoft Excel to manage and track project expenses. Experience in an office setting with a high degree of public contact. Experience with managing sensitive and confidential information. Experience in collaborating across departments to utilize assets in pursuit of achieving an organization's mission. Additional Considerations: Experience using scholarship administration software (e.g., Foundant, AwardSpring, AcademicWorks, etc.) preferred. Experience working with or providing support to students (e.g., advising, admissions, teaching, etc.) preferred. Experience using educational technology platforms (such as EAB Navigate, PeopleSoft Student Information System (SIS and Canvas) and Customer Relationships Management platforms (such as Salesforce, MailChimp, Constant Contact) preferred. Experience preparing for meetings and special events preferred.
