Principal Reliability Engineer
Beehive Industries is dedicated to Powering American Defense by revolutionizing the design, development, and delivery of jet propulsion systems to support the warfighter. Through the integration of additive manufacturing, the company aims to meet the growing and urgent needs for unmanned aerial defense by dramatically improving a jet engine's speed to market, fuel efficiency, and cost. Beehive is committed to grow and advance the defense industrial base while manufacturing exclusively in the USA. This role can be located at our Loveland, Ohio or Englewood, Colorado facility. We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Principal Reliability Engineer to lead efforts in analyzing, designing, and improving the performance, safety, and dependability of systems, equipment, and processes. This role involves collaboration across multidisciplinary teams to assess risks, implement preventive strategies, and ensure product reliability from concept through deployment. The ideal candidate will have a strong analytical mindset, experience with reliability engineering tools, and a deep understanding of system safety and maintenance optimization. Key Responsibilities
Reliability & Safety Engineering: Develop and define reliability, maintainability, and safety design requirements for new and existing systems. Conduct reliability predictions, Failure Mode and Effects Analyses (FMEA), Fault Tree Analyses (FTA), Common Cause Analyses (CCA), and Root Cause Analyses (RCA). Prepare detailed reliability and safety documentation, including hazard analyses and safety assessment reports, in compliance with applicable standards. Perform complex analyses and devise tests to validate design performance, reliability, and safety metrics. Modeling & Analysis: Use modeling tools (e.g., Weibull analysis, Reliability Block Diagrams) to predict field reliability, identify key drivers, and evaluate system performance. Analyze operational and maintenance data to optimize system uptime and minimize failure risk. Preventative Maintenance & Process Optimization: Develop and implement preventive maintenance strategies to improve system reliability and reduce unplanned downtime. Collaborate with design, production, and quality teams to drive improvements in product design, manufacturing processes, and maintenance procedures. Risk & Compliance Management: Identify potential risks within systems and processes and develop effective mitigation plans. Ensure compliance with relevant safety and quality standards (e.g., ISO 9001, AS 9100, OSHA) and contribute to audits and assessments. Reporting & Communication: Prepare detailed technical reports, proposals, presentations, and documentation for stakeholders and customers. Communicate findings clearly across engineering, quality, and operational teams to drive data-informed decision-making. Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or a related Engineering field Minimum 12 years of experience in reliability engineering. Proficiency in reliability engineering tools/software and statistical analysis. Strong analytical, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills. Familiarity with safety and regulatory compliance frameworks (e.g., ISO 9001, AS 9100). Preferred Qualification & Certifications:
Advanced degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or a related Engineering field Familiar with MIL-217F and MIL-472 Experience working with and creating internal process Certified Reliability Engineer (CRE)
ASQ or equivalent Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional (CMRP) or Technician (CMRT) The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required.
