Visitor Services Assistant - Jackson House/VMI Museum System

Jackson House Museum is accepting applications for a part-time Visitor Services Assistant for the VMI Museum System. Job duties include providing tours, answering questions and greeting visitors into the Jackson House Museum. The role also involves working in the VMI Museum and or the Jackson House Museum store as a clerk greeting visitors, selling merchandise and tour tickets. Basic orientation for visitors, restocking merchandise as needed, and other duties as directed by the Assistant Museum Store Manager are also part of the role. Minimum qualifications include a neat, businesslike appearance, alertness, sensitivity to the needs and interests of museum visitors and store customers, promptness, reliability, maturity, and sound judgment. Ability to follow routine procedures and enforce policies, ability to lift 20 pounds, basic knowledge of computer and POS, and basic knowledge of handling and counting money are also required. Retail sales, customer service, and or museum experience are a plus but not required. Looking for part-time staff to specifically work Sundays for 4- or 8-hour shifts and occasionally on Saturdays.
