Biorepository Clinical Research Coordinator
The Stravitz-Sanyal Liver Institute of Virginia Commonwealth University is seeking a Clinical Research Coordinator for our Biorepository to join its world-renowned team of Hepatologists and biological sample experts in changing the landscape of liver and metabolic diseases through research. The Biorepository Clinical Research Coordinator will report to the Biorepository Director, and have the primary role of recruiting, consenting, and enrolling participants, as well as the collection and processing of samples for biorepository studies. The role will compile information and documentation and assist in entering data into the laboratory information management system. Who are we looking for? We seek an enthusiastic learner with appropriate communication skills to collaborates well with others and also enjoys working in a patient care atmosphere. Responsibilities: Coordinate day-to-day clinical research activities to ensure study protocols are followed. Recruit, screen, and enroll study participants. Obtain informed consent and ensure ethical conduct in all study interactions. Collect, process, and ship biological specimens per protocol (e.g., blood draws, urine samples). Maintain accurate and timely documentation in case report forms and electronic databases. Communicate with sponsors, monitors, and IRBs regarding study progress and compliance. Ensure proper storage, handling, and accountability of investigational products, if applicable. Maintain regulatory documents and assist with IRB submissions. Maintain current CITI credentials Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in a health-related field or equivalent experience. At least 1-2 years of experience in clinical research preferred. Phlebotomy certification. LPN, Paramedic License or MA certification required. Knowledge of Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and regulatory guidelines. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and electronic data capture systems (e.g., REDCap, EDC platforms). Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology. Demonstrated ability to work in and foster an environment of respect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from various backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU. This is a restricted position with no set end date; continued employment is dependent upon project needs, availability of funds, and performance. The position will remain open until filled, with a priority application review date of August 31, 2025. VCU is committed to hiring veterans!
