Project Analyst (Research Analyst 3)

This position is with the Information Technology and Research (IT&R) Section of the Central Services Division. IT&R provides a broad range of specialized technical services in the areas of information systems, data analysis/dissemination, and computer/telecommunication services for a large, diverse agency. However, regular, scheduled office hours are also required. Here's what you will do: As a Project Analyst, you will provide research, statistical analysis, and technical support to the department and program areas. This includes selecting, applying, and interpreting complex statistical techniques, designing computerized models, and analyzing and presenting the results in narrative and/or graphic form. You will also serve as project analyst on research studies for one or more DCBS Divisions and be responsible for designing, implementing and evaluating research methodologies and applying analytical techniques and concepts to research studies, and statistical and fiscal projects. Here's what you need to qualify: Minimum Qualifications: A bachelor's degree in any discipline that included six-quarter units in statistics or quantitative analysis methods and procedures, and one year experience using computerized applications to independently gather, compile, and analyze data and prepare narrative or statistical reports OR Four years of research experience using computerized applications to independently gather, compile, and analyze data and prepare narrative or statistical reports Requested Skills: High level of knowledge of statistical principles and procedures, including methods of collecting data and preparing research reports Demonstrated ability to gather, compile, and analyze research data and to present reports and summaries in tabular, graphic, and pictorial form Demonstrated ability to speak to, and write effectively for, a variety of audiences Skill in using computer software (e.g. SAS, Excel, R) for producing complex management and ad hoc statistical reports quickly and accurately, and for mathematical modeling Skill in use of database query and reporting tools, and general knowledge of computer database design principles General knowledge of survey design, implementation, and reporting Ability to train and guide lower-level analysts in various research activities Ability to communicate technical concepts to a non-technical audience Ability to work independently and as part of a team Application information: A resume and cover letter are required for this job posting
