Infection Preventionist

Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations. Responsibilities
Responsible for the prevention, identification, investigation, reporting, and control of health care associated infections (HAI) and the day-to-day infection prevention activities for designated healthcare facilities, clinics and healthcare services throughout the continuum of care in accordance with accepted standards and requirements of infection prevention. Responsibilities
Performs rounding to ensure compliance and surveillance for hospital acquired infections using CDC's National Healthcare Safety Network definitions and may validate surveillance conducted by others. Communicates HAI cases with unit/service leadership. Performs infection prevention activities specific to the practice setting to prevent transmission of infection. Conducts surveillance and epidemiologic investigations to monitor the effectiveness of prevention and control strategies that are consistent with the organization's goals and objectives. Uses statistical methods to design prevention and control strategies, analyze trends, and evaluate processes. Interprets, reports and communicates standards and outcomes to appropriate shareholders. Rotates call with occasional team support. Supports other team members on call. Prepares and presents education materials to enhance Infection Prevention/Patient Safety. Reviews hospital practice to ensure compliance with criteria for accreditation and other regulatory/quality requirements pertaining to Infection Prevention. Communicates lapses to area leadership and assists with recommending, developing and implementing a compliance plan. Mentors and develops lower level Infection Preventionists. Remains up to date with changes in CDC and National Organization Guidelines. Reads relevant journals to keep current with Infection Prevention knowledge. Performs literature reviews to form evidenced based recommendations. Other duties as assigned. Minimum Education & Experience
Bachelor's degree in health related field and 3 years relevant experience required 6 months of infection prevention experience preferred Or equivalent combination of education and experience Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Strong critical thinking skills required Basic statistical analysis skills required Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills required Ability to interact with diverse groups, fostering collaboration and collegiality required Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products required Ability to provide guidance, advice, and assistance in problem resolution to render win/win outcomes for safe patient outcomes required Working knowledge of electronic medical records (EPIC) preferred Management and/or supervisory skills preferred Licenses and Certifications
