Replenishment Operator (Material Handler) General Position Summary The "Material Handler" will be responsible for all materials replenishment requirements which will include the staging of raw materials and foam stacking blocks at point of use, the transfers of parts and other components within and to all Skilcraft manufacturing cells through the visual management system. The main purpose of the role is to support manufacturing by performing a specific role that allows production personnel/operators to focus on the value-added tasks that create products. The Material Handler maintains specific tasks required ensuring required material and components are staged and progress as scheduled. The Material Handler also manages the material shortages boards closely and ensures prompt delivery of materials as they come in. Additionally, the Material Handler works closely with the Master Scheduler to provide accurate counts of raw material inventories. The position plays a critical role in maintaining continuous flow in a functioning Lean system setting. Primary Responsibilities Maximize efficiency at each work center by moving materials, WIP, foam blocks, and finished goods into and out of work centers and departments. Anticipate and understand material requirements for the daily production shift for cutting and punching work centers is staged in the appropriate/designated area(s) prior to shift start. Maintain organization of the parts used in assembly work centers as the mix of parts changes. Duties include re-arranging and re-labeling of bins, storage racks, and shelving. Manage the Visual Management System Require close coordination with team leads, production control, purchasing, and assembly operators. Stay informed of changes and new procedures in manufacturing operations. Communicate with purchasing any material-related issues that may arise or have been observed. Communicate with Master Scheduler updated inventory levels Move scrap or defective parts to proper storage area. Initialize and / or starts up equipment daily that require a "warm up" to optimize operator run time for upcoming shift. Suggest and implement cost-saving ideas. Perform related duties as assigned or as the situation dictates. Review routers for accuracy. Compare system to physical quantities and communicate discrepancies to Master Scheduler. Monitor trash and dumpster levels. Coordinate pallet pick-ups.
