Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) RN
PICU RNs provide care for children and adolescents with life-threatening or high acuity conditions that require constant monitoring. PICU RNs provide medications, intravenous fluids, and artificial nutrition. PICU RNs collaborate with families, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to determine the best course of patient care and recovery. PICU RNs work in the pediatric intensive care unit; an area within a hospital specializing in the care of critically ill infants, children, and teenagers. The unit below PICU is called Peds, similar to a Med Surg unit at an adult facility. PICU RNs often float to Peds as needed. Education/Requirements: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN): 4-Year Education Associates Degree in Nursing (ADN): 2-Year Education You must earn an ADN or BSN degree and pass the NCLEX to apply for a license as a RN. RNs can only work with an active state license. ACLS and PALS are often required At least 2+ years' experience. Up to 36 hours per week, weekends included. Looking for 5 on AM and 5 on PM shifts. Should be available for a min. of 2 shifts a week.
