BAE Systems Jacksonville, Florida Shipyard location is currently constructing a new 25,000 ton ship lift and associated land based drydock facility, to be operational early 2025. Due to the increased capacity and capabilities, our commercial vessel and yacht program is growing and has a position for a highly motivated and capable Superintendent that has the ambition to grow into a Project Manager. This position is an exciting role embedded within a small, dedicated and effective team of professionals, all extremely motivated to contribute to the future and success of the commercial vessel and yacht program. The Project Superintendent plans, directs, and coordinates activities in support of commercial and yacht projects, to ensure that goals or objectives of projects are accomplished. Projects range from survey and maintenance dry dockings, emergency ship repair, major refits, and complex ship repair projects. The Superintendent has daily interactions with our customers and is the liaison between customer and the company, and represents the commercial vessel and yacht program and the company at all times. The Project Superintendent has detailed knowledge of shipboard systems and equipment, and is able to scope, articulate, propose and sell appropriate repair solutions to our customers, ensuring that the customer receives the best value product. The Superintendent is a Leader and Initiator in Safety, and ensures team compliance with all Company and regulated safety requirements and standards. As Commercial and Yacht Project Superintendent you will contribute via a multi-faceted role within our commercial vessel and yacht repair program on projects that range from relatively simple haul outs, to extensive and complex refit and repower projects. The multiple facets within this position include but are not limited to: Planning, directing and coordinating during project execution Providing repair solutions to customers and Classification Society representatives Business development and sales engagements Estimating commercial ship and yacht repair both on active projects and as part of proposal development. Experience within the maritime industry in a variety of roles is a must and the ideal candidate will ideally possess a degree from a marine academy, or in marine engineering, has sales experience, and experience in a shipyard environment. In this role, you will be expected to learn and develop your project management skills at a fast track pace to be considered for a near future project manager role. Required Education, Experience, & Skills: Minimum of 8 years shipyard project management experience and/or Navy or Merchant Marine-related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Proven experience in business development and sales aspects of the commercial repair market; proven success in growing and diversifying market share. Proven hands on experience with industrial project budgeting and contract negotiations. Excellent supervisory & multitasking skills Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Project). Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test and reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory and factor analysis. Ability to apply high-level budgeting/accounting skills to execute contracts while ensuring profitability and customer satisfaction. Works with minimal direction. Independently determines methods and procedures on new assignments and may provide guidance to others. Determines appropriate actions, methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for expediting results by exercising independent judgment within defined practices and policies. Follows an organized method in approach to work, but is cognizant of the time needed to provide a service or product. Ability to speak effectively before others inside and outside the organization. Ability to effectively communicate professionally, provide training wherever and whenever required, and respond to questions from managers, employees, clients, customers-both internal and external, and the general public. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business periodicals, production schedules, budgets, manning requirements, engineering documents, technical procedures, government regulations, common manuals and journals. Ability to write routine reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Must be able to obtain Defense Biometric Identification card access. "DBIDS". Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills: Previous commercial vessel and/or yacht shipyard experience is a plus. Communicates contract requirements, specifications and customer expectations to all departments and subcontractors to ensure incorporation into overall Company objectives. Estimates and negotiates change orders with surveyors and negotiators with input from crafts and subcontractors regarding schedule impact and labor/material costs. Utilizes and ensures implementation of the PMBOK methodology. Conducts project team meetings to develop the project management plan and accurately determine the project status. Executes contracts in compliance with local, state & federal safety and environmental guidelines. Manages and controls the project throughout all phases. Prepares project reports for management (division and corporate), identifying variances to project plan, that may need immediate management attention. Ensures establishment of the integrated project plan including detailed production schedules and budgets to ensure a smooth implementation during each phase of the plan. Implement project change control process where corrective and preventative actions are rapidly executed. Secure written and approved customer change orders in a timely manner and incorporate into the project management plan. Responsible for maintaining contract documentation, including all correspondence, change orders, etc. Reviews and communicates status reports prepared by project personnel and updates schedules or plans. Must have thorough knowledge of NAVSEA, USCG, ABS, and other guidelines, specifications, requirements. Thorough knowledge of Lock Out Tag Out/Lock Out Tags Plus processes and ability to plan, organize and manage LOTO during the project. Leads the project team to improve knowledge and skill levels in relevant subjects and processes. Leader in Process Improvement utilizing the tools of Value Stream Mapping, LEAN and 5S. Initiates and builds collaborative professional relationships with internal and external customers. Coordinates and guides beginning and junior Superintendents, Coordinators, Planners and Schedulers. Leads and oversees the efforts of subcontractors. Pay Information: Full-Time Salary Range: $60076 - $102130. Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
