Engineering Position

In both the office and in the field, performs a wide variety of planning, maintenance, design engineering, project management and construction, and operations activities related to routine, non-routine, and emergency restoration duties. Project areas may include grid/system design, operations and maintenance, planning, asset management, reliability, computer applications, safety, and root cause failure analysis. Job duties/responsibilities include: Performs a wide variety of detailed engineering analysis in transmission-related areas such as planning, maintenance, design, project management and construction, and operations. Uses engineering/technical principles, best practices, and knowledge of internal and external business issues to solve problems, develop cost-effective, technically sound solutions, and improve products or services. Applies knowledge of engineering principles in evaluating alternatives, making decisions, and interpreting/employing applicable electrical codes, procedures, standards, processes, and policies. Supports activities to comply with applicable industry standards (i.e., NESC, NERC, SERC) and other utility regulations, as required. Works with other disciplines within the Transmission organization and other company business units to achieve stated goals. Assists with storm/emergency restoration efforts as necessary. Minimum requirements include: Bachelor's degree in engineering discipline (typically Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, Chemical, and Industrial) from a four-year accredited institution. Preferred: Bachelor's degree in mechanical or civil engineering from a four-year accredited institution. Engineer, II: 2+ years of experience (1+ year with master's degree). Engineer, III: 4+ years of experience (3+ years with a BS and a FE or a MS Engineering). Engineer, Senior: 6+ years of experience (5+ years with master's degree and a PE or PMP). Minimum skills, knowledge, & abilities for this position include: Exceptional written and verbal communication. Cross functional interfacing skills. Strong organizational skills. Technical analysis and problem-solving skills. Project management/project engineer skills. Meeting management. Strong Business Computer Application Skills. Highly preferred: Proficiency in PLS CADD. Preferred: PE.
