The Instructor, Human Patient Simulation (HPS) oversees the Human Patient Simulation Lab(s), ensuring the equipment is operating appropriately, cleanliness of the lab(s), scheduling and running simulations, tracking simulation effectiveness, providing tours of the lab(s), training clients in the use of simulations, and continuously improving the catalog of simulations to suite client's desired outcomes. Partnering with WCED leadership and the Director, Health Industry Solutions, they will assist in the identification and securing of new business and will assist in developing goals for the continued development of the HPS.
Essential Functions Collaborates with Workforce, Community and Economic Development (WCED) leadership to secure new business for the Human Patient Simulation Lab(s) Develops and implements high quality learning and assessment scenarios and evaluates the effectiveness of simulation on the learning process Provides training for residents; nurses clinicians and other clients or staff who desire more involvement in the use of simulators Programs the software scenarios utilized for simulation experiences based on specific learning objectives identified by the client Develops new scenarios and modifies existing scenarios, recommending them for use Monitors HPS lab utilization ensuring supplies and equipment are gathered at all campus locations and assists in overseeing equipment/supplies setup, moulage, and maintenance after sessions Conducts scenarios, guiding the use of learned skills and understanding of the medical process Mentors and provides training to staff and faculty who will be conducting scenarios Provides recommendations for budget and purchase of equipment, supplies, and materials; negotiates purchase price for equipment; and assists in identification of funding sources for use in simulation and lab(s) Maintains a thorough working knowledge of all simulation equipment, ensuring consistency among individuals and lab locations Manages, compiles and reports statistics related to client evaluations of simulation experiences for each class, implementing change where needed Operates and maintains simulation equipment, including simulators, Audio/Visual and recording equipment and assists in the training of other operators of the simulation equipment Develops and implements a maintenance plan for the simulation equipment and trouble-shoots the simulation equipment when needed, and maintains order and cleanliness of the Simulation Lab(s) Provides tours of the Simulations Lab(s), providing demonstrations of the equipment Schedules and coordinates Simulation Lab activities and training Works with Director, Health Industry Solutions and WCED leadership to develop and recommend short and long-range goals for continual development of the Simulation Lab Performs other duties as assigned Required Qualifications Education and Experience/Training Master's degree in nursing or education. Graduate from an approved professional nursing program Five (5) to Eight (8) years' experience as an RN At least three (3) years' experience as a Simulation Technician Hold a current, active, unencumbered/unrestricted RN license Hold a valid Ohio Driver's license and meet the College's insurability standards Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Possess strong organizational and time-management skills Possess excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills Ability to travel between labs Ability to foster a team environment and work collaboratively Ability to work accurately with great attention to detail Ability to react and solve operational problems quickly and independently Demonstrated proficiency in the use of computer processes and technology Possess excellent customer service skills and proven ability to develop and sustain productive customer relationships Ability to develop and maintain relationships with key contacts to enhance workflow and quality Possess sensitivity to appropriately respond to the needs of a diverse population Ability to work days, evenings and weekends, as needed Competencies Critical Competencies Service Focus Collaboration Quality of Work Very Important Competencies Adaptability Continuous Improvement Important Competencies Communication Time Utilization Preferred Qualifications Education, and Experience/Training Experience instructing and facilitating nursing students.
