Machine Operator/Technician

Hourly Shifts available:
First, Second, and Third shifts available Position Purpose: Responsible for all aspects of machine operation and changeover activities to achieve and maintain production requirements. The Machine Operator is also responsible to perform all jobs safely, efficiently and accurately while operating the assigned production line. Principle Accountabilities: Prepares production line for shift by ensuring an ample supply of materials is on hand or is readily accessible for the efficient operation of the line. Conducts a pre-shift audit of production line and work area to ensure its operational and ready for use. Maintains standard production rates, low waste, and meets all stated customer requirements while operating the assigned machine. Monitors the line to maintain quality standards and makes necessary adjustments to process settings to ensure quality of work product. Conducts quality tests as compared to quality specifications. Ensures that product being produced doesn't have any quality deficiencies. Records results of tests and adjusts process/equipment as required. Removes finished rolls from winders. Weighs rolls and records each roll weight and length on shift production log sheet. Ensures that each roll is properly packaged and/or banded onto pallets or racks and ensures that each roll is correctly labeled and put away. Participates in the correct application of the "Hold Card" for all nonconforming product, including initial investigation of cause. Properly move, stage, and sort all materials. Return all unused materials to the proper location. Completes daily paperwork and line reports. Maintains a clean and safe work area, machines, and equipment based on 5S standards. Identifies and reports deficiencies in product quality or packaging. Weigh, label, tag, and identify all scrap correctly and take to designated area. Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor/manager. Essential Skills and Experience: High School Diploma or equivalent required. One year in a manufacturing environment / machine operator experience required. Intermediate math skills required. General computer knowledge required. Effective verbal and written communication skills required. Ability to stand and walk for up to 8 hours at a time required. Ability to work in limited work area on continuous basis required. Ability to lift and maneuver up to 50 lbs on a consistent basis required. Ability to perform the physical aspects of the role following recommended practices and a safety mindset.
