Delivers intraoperative care to the surgical patient, primarily in the scrub role. Serves the patients from neonate, infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric. Essential Functions: Scrubs surgical cases in own specialty independently and in other areas with minimal direction. Maintains knowledge of equipment set-up and functioning and seeks appropriate resource when necessary. Assists in the circulating role under the direct supervision of R.N. Prepares for surgical cases in an efficient manner, anticipating needs of patient, surgeon, anesthesia, and other O.R. team members. Provides a safe environment for patient and staff by adhering to standards of aseptic technique and department/hospital policy. Communicates effectively with patient, staff, and physicians. High school diploma or GED required. Completion of accredited Surgical Technology program or Certification from National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting, or enrollment in a certified Nursing Program to become an RN or 15+ years of experience. 2 years of experience required. Basic Life Support certified within six (6) weeks of hire. Acceptable credentialing bodies and certifications include American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers. Proof of completion of Adult and Child Mandatory Reporter abuse training within three (3) months of hire. Ability to read, write, and speak English language.
