Senior Transit Engineer

Primary Responsibilities HDR is seeking a Senior Transit Engineer to manage, pursue, and support the design and/or planning of public transportation projects. The individual in this position will lead and support multi-disciplinary transit projects that may include Bus, Bus Rapid Transit, Light Rail, Streetcar, Commuter Rail, or transit support facilities. In the role of Senior Transit Engineer, we'll count on you to: Take responsibility for the entire design process from the proposal through preparation of the plans, specifications, and estimate of a moderate to large transit project or projects Plan, direct, and monitor all aspects of large multidiscipline projects or medium-sized projects with a high degree of technical complexity, typically in excess of $5 million and involving a large project staff Produce and coordinate several projects concurrently Support and lead project pursuits, prepare proposals, scopes, and fee estimates Establish client relations and be involved with marketing, contractual, design, and production meetings Conduct schematic, design development, and contract document work sessions at project sites in conjunction with Project Managers, appropriate technical professionals, and other disciplines Coordinate staffing and workload through entire project development to complete documents on schedule Work with the Business/Accounting Manager, Project Controller or Company Controller and Department Manager or Managing Principal for project reviews Implement QA/QC procedures Execute training for personnel as established by strategic plans Supervise large project staffs and act as mentor for less-experienced Project Managers Maintain professional engineering registration Perform other duties as needed Preferred Qualifications Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and personnel Experience with designing transit facilities such as stations, parks and rides, transit centers, and operations and maintenance facilities Solid business development skills with a history of winning projects as the proposed project manager or task lead Demonstrated ability to relate well to clients Demonstrated presentation skills Preference given to local candidates Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree A minimum of 10 years experience in all aspects of roadway engineering design Professional Engineer (PE) license Demonstrated leadership skills, communication skills, and ability to work with various teams Project management skills desirable Experience should include urban and rural highway interchanges, intersection design, traffic management, transportation planning, site planning, preparation of concept alignments, geometrical layout, and CAD base alignment plans Must have coordinated survey, grading, drainage, and utilities and layout of various site items is a plus An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must What We Believe
