We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Chief of Staff to serve as a trusted advisor and strategic partner to our Chief Executive Officer (CEO). This individual will play a critical role in working cross-functionally to drive the CEO's agenda, manage operational routines, and contribute to the overall success of the company. This position is an individual contributor with no direct reports, though temporary or loaned support may exist as needed. This position will work closely with all members of WEX’s Executive Leadership team as well as with Senior Leadership Team members across the organization. Travel is expected 25-40% of the time.
Responsibilities
CEO Advisory and Support
Translate CEO vision and decisions into actions and/or projects that achieve expected outcomes. Serve in a flexible capacity to own and drive a portfolio of projects, as assigned by the CEO. Attend shareholder meetings and other key events with the CEO. Provide insightful advice and counsel to the CEO on a wide range of business matters. Act as a sounding board for the CEO, offering objective perspectives and challenging assumptions.
Strategic Planning and Execution:
Act as a strategic advisor to the CEO and Executive Leadership team, collaborating with the Chief Strategy Officer to identify and provide growth opportunities through partnerships, external relationships and market research. Collaborate with the CEO and Corporate Strategy to develop and execute against WEX’s strategic initiatives. Partner with the Chief People Officer and team to integrate the execution of strategic initiatives into performance management and ways of working.
Operational Excellence:
Oversee the day-to-day operations of the CEO's office, ensuring efficient and effective workflow. Use judgment to determine best and highest use of CEO time and resources. Act as a liaison between the CEO and internal/external stakeholders. Prepare presentations and reports for Investor Relations and other key stakeholders. Build Executive Leadership Team operational rhythms and routines which drive outcomes and decisions, enabling the Executive Leadership team to operate effectively and efficiently. Oversee integration of core WEX routines and processes, including strategic planning, capital allocation, financial planning, and talent planning to ensure cohesion and alignment
Board of Directors:
Collaborate with the Chief Legal Officer to develop board agendas, materials, presentations, and logistics. Prepare presentations, reports, and communications for/with WEX Inc. Board of Directors. Review and revise all materials prepared for the Board of Directors to ensure cohesion across materials and alignment with WEX’s strategic initiatives and operations.
Financial Management:
In partnership with the CEO and Chief Financial Officer (CFO), contribute to the development and execution of the company's financial strategy.
Leadership and Collaboration:
Act as a culture champion, leading with collaboration, innovation, and accountability and embodying WEX leadership behaviors Act as a mentor and a coach for WEX employees
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree. 15+ years of experience in progressively senior leadership roles, with a proven track record of success in revenue generation, strategy development, and business operations. Strong understanding of the payments industry is highly desired. Experience in technology, benefits, or mobility industries is a plus. Exceptional financial acumen and P&L knowledge. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. High level of integrity and discretion.
The base pay range represents the anticipated low and high end of the pay range for this position. Actual pay rates will vary and will be based on various factors, such as your qualifications, skills, competencies, and proficiency for the role. Base pay is one component of WEX's total compensation package. Most sales positions are eligible for commission under the terms of an applicable plan. Non-sales roles are typically eligible for a quarterly or annual bonus based on their role and applicable plan.
