Position Summary
The Patient Escorter-Transporter II is an integral member of the patient care team. This position is responsible for ensuring the provision of quality patient care and safety during transport of patients through utilization of safety devices Position Description and close observation. During the transport of cardiac monitored patients, he/she will ensure safe patient monitoring during transport and trouble shoot cardiac monitors' alarms, parameters and equipment
Responsibilities
Ensure safe, comfortable, and dignified patient transport while adhering to strict protocols and providing basic patient care needs during transit. Provide comfort items, maintain cleanliness, assist with personal needs, answer basic questions within policy, and adhere to safety regulations for medical equipment like oxygen and IVs. Maintain patient confidentiality and HIPAA compliance.
Maintain clean equipment and practice utmost safety precautions with equipment.
Transport essential medical materials, such as lab specimens, surgical trays, medications (including IV admixtures), and DME equipment, while adhering to aseptic techniques when handling specimens.
Proficiency in EPIC is essential for managing transport requests, including logging in, utilizing information systems, acknowledging and completing jobs, entering delay codes, communicating via secure chat, and managing break/lunch times. Coordination with the lead is necessary to ensure timely completion of transports.
Adhere to hospital and departmental policies, including the dress code, attendance, meetings, and mandatory training requirements. Collaborate effectively within the department and with other organizational teams During Transport of cardiac monitored patients, monitor patient condition.
Effectively collaborate with clinical staff through detailed communication to ensure safe patient monitoring during transport.
Troubleshoot cardiac monitoring alarms, parameters and equipment.
Review Lead placement and maintenance and equipment Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
High School graduate or equivalent or higher degree is required.
EKG/ECG interpretation class
Greater than 1 year in a Healthcare setting is preferred
Basic computer skills are required
Cardiovascular Monitor Tech Certification is required
Current American Heart Association Heart Saver or higher required.
