Business Development Manager
to spearhead our growth in key markets by building a robust pipeline of new business and strengthening relationships with existing accounts. This role will be a combination of technical curiosity, strategic pipeline building, and relentless execution to help shape the future of Specialized Coating Services as we continue to set the standard in our industry. This role is ideal for an experienced sales professional with a background selling to engineers and technical stakeholders in industrial, aerospace, or medical manufacturing. This is a true hunter role: you will be responsible for owning the full sales cycle — from researching and targeting high-value prospects, to executing thoughtful, multi-threaded outreach, to closing deals that align with our commitment to quality and performance. DUTIES + RESPONSIBILITIES Business development, lead generation and strategic pipeline generation Execute outbound prospecting efforts, including cold calling, emailing, and LinkedIn outreach, to drive new customers Execute an enterprise sales motion that includes: research, hypothesis building, multi-threading, tailored communication, and CRM tracking Drive account penetration through high-touch, strategic outreach and relationship building Partner with account management and customer service (including a newly hired head of customer service) to ensure seamless execution and customer satisfaction. Strategic Pipeline Generation Build and maintain a robust, high-quality pipeline of new business opportunities by thoroughly researching ideal customer profiles, designing tailored outreach campaigns, and executing disciplined, outbound sales strategies. Proactively identify and engage net-new target accounts within the B2B manufacturing and services sectors, with a focus on aerospace, defense, and medical device industries. Approach lead generation with a proactive, outbound-first mindset — this role demands initiating opportunities, not waiting for inbound leads. Pinpoint and prioritize the right accounts and key decision-makers (such as design engineers and technical buyers) through thoughtful research and a deep understanding of market dynamics. Execute a full-cycle enterprise sales motion that includes detailed research, hypothesis building, multi-threading across stakeholders, personalized communication, and precise CRM tracking. Leverage your industry insight to identify “lookalike” accounts and buyers with similar needs and buying behaviors, even if you haven’t sold to them before. Account Development and Management Balance aggressive new customer acquisition with thoughtful cross-selling and upselling into existing accounts, particularly during the first year. Drive deeper account penetration through high-touch, strategic outreach and trusted relationship building. Collaborate closely with operations and quality teams to fully understand our capabilities and ensure the successful delivery of every project sold. Partner with account management and customer service — including the newly hired Head of Customer Service — to guarantee seamless execution and an exceptional customer experience. Serve as the key commercial link between the sales function and internal stakeholders, ensuring alignment and clear communication across sales, operations, and fulfillment teams. QUALIFICATIONS Minimum of 6 years of B2B sales experience (8+ years preferred), with a proven track record of proactively generating new business, driving outbound sales, and consistently meeting or exceeding ambitious sales targets/metrics and KPI’s. Demonstrated strength as a true sales hunter — skilled at developing a strategic/high-quality pipeline and executing a complex enterprise sales motion, including research and hypothesis building, multi-threading across stakeholders, personalized communication strategies, and disciplined CRM tracking Extensive experience in cold calling, personalized email outreach, in-person meetings, industry trade shows, and multi-channel prospecting to engage new prospects and decision-makers. Proven experience managing accounts and overseeing the full customer lifecycle to ensure customer satisfaction, project delivery, and long-term partnerships. History of success selling to engineers and other technical buyers in industrial, manufacturing, specialized services, aerospace, defense, medical devices, or other highly technical, quality-critical industries.
