Chief Operating Officer (COO)
to join its team. Reporting to and working closely with the Dean, the COO will provide day-to-day leadership and management for the Mann School, aligning with the university's mission and core values. The COO will participate in developing long-range strategic plans, governance structures, and operational objectives for practice management. The COO oversees all financial and administrative operations, contributing to the development and implementation of comprehensive multi-functional strategies. The COO will advise senior leadership on support services, asset utilization, and operational strategies, while continuously evaluating and reporting on financial and operational performance against strategic goals. Responsibilities include designing and implementing business operations strategies, governance structures, and administrative procedures related to university resources such as personnel, facilities, finances, and IT. The COO collaborates with senior leadership and department managers to ensure the operations infrastructure remains current and effective. The COO will manage financial and business planning activities, oversee organizational performance metrics, and provide strategic advice on support services and asset management. The role involves directing administrative and financial operations through subordinate managers and staff. The COO develops and oversees operational processes across finance, HR, IT, and facilities, reviewing talent management and employee engagement strategies. The COO promotes an inclusive environment and upholds USC's principles of ethics and integrity. Qualifications The minimum education requirement is a master's degree, with several years of progressively responsible experience in operational leadership within a large, complex organization, preferably in higher education. Preferred qualifications and experience include: Ability to work independently, handle sensitive matters, meet deadlines, and manage high-profile tasks; Strong leadership, interpersonal, organizational, critical thinking, and analytical skills; Excellent communication skills, both oral and written; Ability to interpret and apply policies, regulations, and requirements; Experience in building and managing diverse, high-performing teams; Knowledge of higher education issues, laws, policies, and best practices; Experience engaging with leaders and community members with diplomacy and discretion.
