Job Description
The strategic position of Business Architect is focused on aligning the courts' business operations and processes with their mission and objectives. The role involves understanding the unique needs and challenges of the courts and designing solutions to improve efficiency, effectiveness, and responsiveness to their stakeholders - judges, legal professionals, and the public.
Summary
The Business Architect plays a crucial role in shaping the operational framework of the technical ecosystem. This position is responsible for analysing and optimizing current business processes, aligning them with the strategic goals of the judiciary, and implementing innovative solutions to enhance service delivery and operational efficiency.
Key responsibilities
Strategic Alignment: • Develop a business architecture strategy that is based on the specific needs and motivations of the agency. • Align strategic goals and objectives with decisions related to court functions, services, and key initiatives. • Ensure that business and technology initiatives align with the overall strategic plan for the agency.
Business Process Analysis and Design: • Conduct comprehensive assessments of current court operations and processes, identifying areas for improvement and opportunities for optimization. • Design and model future-state business processes to enhance effectiveness and efficiency, taking into account legal requirements and stakeholder needs. • Define and describe the primary business functions of the courts, differentiating between judicial functions, administrative support, and interactions with external entities like legal professionals and other government agencies.
Solution Development and Implementation: • Translate business requirements into feasible and scalable solutions, potentially involving technology-enabled improvements. • Lead the development of business cases to justify proposed initiatives and guide the implementation of new solutions. • Work closely with IT counterparts to align technical solutions with business requirements and ensure smooth implementation.
Stakeholder Engagement and Communication: • Collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders, including judges, court administrators, IT personnel, and legal professionals, to gather requirements, build consensus, and drive successful outcomes. • Clearly and concisely communicate complex concepts, recommendations, and solutions to various audiences within the court system.
Governance and Standards: • Establish and enforce business architecture standards and methodologies for the customer systems. • Contribute to the ongoing development and maturity of business architecture practices.
Required Skills: • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess complex business problems and develop insightful solutions. • Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, capable of influencing and collaborating with diverse stakeholders. • Proficiency in business process modelling tools and techniques. • Understanding of enterprise architecture principles and how business architecture fits within the broader enterprise context. • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple priorities and delivering high-quality results.
Preferred Skills • Minimum of 7 years of experience in business architecture, business analysis, or a related field, preferably within a government or legal context. • Proven experience in defining and implementing business solutions, developing business cases, and leading change initiatives. • Familiarity with the operations and specific requirements of the Govt system (federal, state, or local).
Education: • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Information Systems, or a related field.
