DEA seeks a Remote Sensing Project Manager to lead and elevate our Mobile, Static, and UAS scanning practices. In this role, you'll guide the technical development efforts and grow talent across the firm. This is an opportunity to lead both vision and execution to one of the most dynamic and evolving capabilities in our Geomatics practice.
About the Role As Remote Sensing Project Manager, you'll oversee DEA's remote sensing portfolio by providing mentorship, quality oversight, and technical thought leadership. You'll work closely with internal supervisors, project teams, market leaders, and clients to ensure remote sensing tools and workflows are integrated effectively across the business. This role is part strategist, part mentor, part innovator - and fully embedded in DEA's commitment to excellence.
Key Responsibilities include
Guide the Mobile, Static, and UAS Communities of Practice
Provide leadership to supervisors and staff through goal setting, career development, and day-to-day management Foster a culture of innovation and shared learning
Project Oversight
Oversee project planning, scheduling, budgeting, and execution
Technical Strategy
Stay current with emerging remote sensing tools, technology, and trends Coordinate remote sensing with broader Geomatics and Marine Services operations
Business Development
Support pursuit strategy with Geomatics and Regional Market Leaders Identify integration opportunities across client teams and geographic regions Help expand DEA's remote sensing footprint through strategic planning
Client Engagement
Collaborate with clients to understand expectations and success metrics Deliver tailored technical solutions that exceed client expectations
Training and Quality Control
Coordinate training opportunities to advance internal expertise Develop and oversee QA/QC standards for remote sensing deliverables.
Industry Networking
Represent DEA in external forums and partnerships Lead internal and external presentations to share knowledge and insights
Additional Responsibilities may include
Ensure timely, budget-friendly, top-quality project execution, surpassing industry standards Collaborate with Regional Group and Delivery Leaders to secure resources for ongoing and proposed project commitments Lead and guide staff in surveys, reviewing survey documents for compliance, aligning with DEA's Quality Management standards Adhere to firmwide tools, processes, and policies, encompassing project accounting, contracting, and quality mandates Basic Qualifications:
10+ years of survey experience, including 5+ years in remote laser scanning and UAS Demonstrated success supervising staff and managing technical teams Ability to set SMART goals and communicate strategy Strong communication, collaboration, and leadership skills A strategic mindset with passion for innovation and mentorship Experience with Departments of Transportation and Energy companies in the Western U.S. Working knowledge of GIS, photogrammetry, laser scanning, and modeling integration Preferred Qualifications:
Professional land surveyor (PLS) Strong industry presence and commitment to thought leadership Benefits:
