Apple Inc.
Are you seeking to push the boundaries of what’s considered feasible? We’re looking for a world-class optical simulation engineer to join our engineering team and make a significant impact on the future of Apple! By collaborating with a diverse team—including optical engineers, human perception experts, product design engineers, and experimental physicists—you’ll revolutionize the industry’s understanding of optical devices and enhance the product experience for our global customers.
Considering applying for this job Do not delay, scroll down and make your application as soon as possible to avoid missing out. In this role, you’ll be a driving force behind designing innovative architectures for Apple Vision displays. Your focus will be on optical simulation to understand, predict performance, and set specifications for complex near-to-eye devices. You’ll develop test methods for model validation, define perceptual metrics to capture human experience accurately, and support product development from concept to mass production. Together, we’ll create a magical experience that redefines what millions of customers can expect from Apple Vision products. Bring passion and dedication to your work, and there’s no telling what you could accomplish. Description
Leverage existing commercial and in-house simulation tools and develop new modeling techniques to predict performance and artifacts of next-gen, near-to-eye imaging and illumination display optics. Develop performance metrics in collaboration with product stakeholders and human perception experts to evaluate design variants, considering manufacturing defects and environmental impacts. Support simulation validation through optical metrology, sample characterization, and model fitting approaches. Communicate device advantages, disadvantages, and risks effectively in technical meetings and presentations to stakeholders and leaders. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including display pipeline, optical design, and process engineers, to develop solutions that meet project requirements and schedules. Minimum Qualifications
B.S. in Physics, Optical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field with 3+ years of industry experience, or equivalent. Experience with optical design and analysis tools like Zemax or LightTools. Proficiency in scientific computing languages such as Python, C/C++, or Matlab for simulation, analysis, and visualization. Preferred Qualifications
M.S. or Ph.D. in Optical or Electrical Engineering or related field. Strong knowledge of optical design, including ray tracing, Fourier beam propagation, RCWA, FDTD, Mueller calculus. Experience with near-to-eye display technologies and perceptual metrics. Experience with model validation based on laboratory experiments. Experience in mass production of optical consumer devices. Apple offers a competitive salary with a range between $147,400 and $272,100, based on skills and experience, along with comprehensive benefits, stock options, and educational reimbursement. Note that benefits and compensation are subject to eligibility and other terms. Apple is an equal opportunity employer committed to diversity and inclusion. We promote equal opportunity for all applicants regardless of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, veteran status, or other protected characteristics.
