ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: • Cultivates a positive and collaborative school culture. • Creates and maintains an engaging, student-centered learning climate. • Supervises all professional, paraprofessional, administrative, and support personnel in the school. • Assumes responsibility for the safety of the school. • Supervises the daily use of the school facilities for both academic and nonacademic purposes. • Responsible for the overall administration of the school building. • Supervises student behavior and welfare. • Confers with teachers, counselors, support personnel, students and parents on matters of student academic growth, behavior, welfare, attendance, and special needs. • Maintains active relationships with students and parents. • Facilitates necessary conferences between parents and teachers. • Implements and evaluates school policies with respect to students and staff. • Prepares necessary records, reports, and budgets. • Attends necessary meetings, conferences, or workshops as directed by the superintendent. • Assists with the recruitment and screening of prospective teachers. • Visits classes regularly to evaluate teaching personnel and conducts conferences with teachers following visits to improve delivery of instruction and individual teacher performance. • Chairs and/or serves on school and district committees as requested by the superintendent. • Keeps the superintendent informed of the school's activities and concerns. • Maintains contemporary knowledge of research-based best practices in content and pedagogy. • Serves as a key member of the district leadership team. • Collaborates in the development, revision, and evaluation of a vertically aligned, standards-based curriculum. • Creates master schedules that maximize time on learning in core subject areas while providing time for co-planning, grade level collaboration, and on-going job-embedded professional learning. • Any other duties as may be assigned by the superintendent.
