Network Systems Engineer

Scottsdale, AZ (On-Site/Office) Contract Position Pay Estimated: $55.47-$60.47/Hour This estimate represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors, (geographical location, etc.) Contribute to a company at the forefront of mission-critical systems and technologies in defense and security. This leader in global defense integrates advanced technology to deliver information and insights on the battlefield, offering roles that support security and technological superiority across multiple domains. Responsibilities: Design and plan network architectures that meet current and future operational and capacity requirements. Develop detailed network specifications, schematics, and configuration documents. Select and recommend hardware/software solutions using in-depth knowledge of routers, switches, multiplexers, hubs, bridges, gateways, and other network devices. Coordinate third-party maintenance activities and act as a point of contact for vendor support. Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues involving user connectivity, hardware/software conflicts, and cross-platform integration. Maintain and continuously develop technical expertise across networking technologies, including LAN/WAN, cybersecurity principles, routing protocols, and interfacing systems. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including cybersecurity, systems engineering, and infrastructure architects to build secure and reliable environments. Participate in capacity planning, performance tuning, and infrastructure upgrades. Qualifications: U.S. Citizenship is required by Federal Law. Bachelor's degree in Network Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related technical field (or equivalent experience) 5+ years of experience in network design, configuration, and support (or 3+ with a Master's degree) Ability to obtain a DoD Secret Clearance Demonstrated proficiency in: Enterprise network architecture, Routing/switching protocols (e.g., BGP, OSPF, EIGRP), Configuration of network hardware such as Cisco, Juniper, or similar platforms Strong experience with IP addressing, subnetting, VLANs, and network segmentation Experience with network monitoring and diagnostic tools Ability to develop detailed implementation documentation, drawings, and procedures Subject matter expertise in at least one network discipline (LAN, WAN, firewalls, or secure enclaves) and working knowledge of adjacent domains Preferred Qualifications: Active DoD Secret Clearance or higher Certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, CompTIA Network+, or Security+ Experience supporting classified or secure DoD networks Working knowledge of network automation, scripting (e.g., Python, Ansible), or zero-trust architecture Familiarity with VPN technologies, load balancing, and cloud networking (e.g., AWS, Azure GovCloud) What to Expect: Applicants selected for employment will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening and background investigation which may include education, criminal and work history verifications.
