Job Description Job Title: Modality Tech Profession: Multi Specialty: Imaging Duration: 8 Weeks Shift: 12-hour Nights Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 1+ years of imaging experience License: Registered Radiology Technologist Certifications: ARRT (any of the following: CT, M, MR, R.T.(R)(VI), R.T.(R)(CV)), BLS (AHA) Must-Have: Associate's Degree strongly preferred, Bachelor's Degree preferred
Description: Provides quality patient care to all patients within multiple imaging departments. Performs high-quality images and exams on patients while maintaining sensitivity to patient needs. Follows standards of safe radiation practice. Demonstrates leadership abilities and serves as a role model for other associate technologists. Acts as a clinical resource to unit personnel and upholds current standards of practice. Performs imaging procedures, ensuring safety for self, patients, and others. Practices all rules and regulations pertaining to radiation safety, minimizing exposure to as low as reasonably achievable (ALARA). Produces quality images in a complete, accurate, and timely manner. Prepares patients for exams. Provides information and instruction to patients and/or families regarding procedures and addresses their physical and emotional needs. Assists patients during exams and positions them appropriately. Observes patients and equipment during procedures, reporting and documenting unusual occurrences and recording patient conditions. Facilitates smooth patient flow, scheduling, and optimal use of equipment/resources. Communicates effectively in writing and verbally with physicians, imaging personnel, students, and hospital staff to facilitate the continuum of care. Assists with patient transport as needed. Performs IV starts and contrast administration as required. As assigned, performs technologist duties of other registered modalities. Provides on-call coverage outside of standard scheduled hours per department and facility policy. Correctly inputs charges and required data for procedures and supplies utilized during exams. Completes required hospital/medical imaging paperwork for each exam performed. Prepares rooms, equipment, and materials needed for exams. Maintains technical operation of equipment and notifies service when necessary. Reports equipment problems and logs service calls per department procedures. Maintains a clean work area for employees and patients. Documents quality checks and equipment maintenance per department procedures. Proactively identifies and follows up on problems with appropriate management personnel. Establishes a motivating rapport with physicians, staff, and system departments. Maintains high skill level through ongoing education and shares information with staff. Participates in clinical training for students and/or staff technologists. Engages in professional activities through involvement in organizations, journal clubs, online education, etc. Actively participates in department and hospital quality and process improvement initiatives. Maintains compliance with all State, Federal, accreditation, and hospital regulations and standards. Contributes to ACR accreditation as requested. Floating may be required to other locations within a specified radius. Float assignments may include duties outside the original job requirements in accordance with policy.
