Part-Time Float Teller Opportunity

* Initial training will require full-time hours for typically a month before the part-time schedule is set (Mondays, Fridays, 1st and 3rd or other dates if those fall over a weekend of holiday). * Work hours 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. o r 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. unless assigned to work during a FT employee's vacation or other absence. Could be asked to report @ 7:30 a.m. on peak business days. * Schedule could vary from day to day depending on work location of Laurel or Ellisville. * Must be able to work on short notice in the absence of a full-time teller. * Valid driver's license is required. Background checks will include driving record.

Qualifications - ONLY THOSE WHO MEET MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS WILL BE CONSIDERED FOR EMPLOYMENT * One year steady work history handling cash and directly assisting customers preferred. Teller experience would be a plus, but not required. * A working knowledge of debits and credits and general accounting skills is desired for those without teller experience; * A general working knowledge of computers and moderate keyboard skills is necessary. A working knowledge of Horizon would be a plus. * Necessary skills include organizational, problem solving, the ability to communicate effectively (written and verbally, in person and by phone) and to work independently according to Bank policy and procedure. * Essential skills include an aptitude for basic math and the desire to serve customers; * The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic evidenced by a steady work history and the motivation to grow in a banking career; * Must present oneself professionally in dress and demeanor and be friendly; *
Must be flexible to work as assigned, including calls to work on short notice and on scheduled days off, if needed.
Primary Objective
- To be available to work as assigned in order to serve and assist customers with concern and knowledge of Bank products and services and to accurately perform teller duties according to practice and procedure in a team-oriented environment (i.e. working in harmony with all bank employees). ALL job duties require strict adherence to all applicable federal and state rule and regulations as well as Bank policies and procedures.
Primary Responsibilities
- To work assigned hours where needed (primarily Laurel and Ellisville) and as relief during vacations and other absences. Duties include balancing cash and negotiable items daily after the course of accepting deposits of cash and/or checks; process withdrawals and cash checks up to a designated limit; accepting loan payments; redeem cash items for deposit or cash; process cash advances on credit/debit cards; have a general knowledge of products and services to answer customer questions; sell official checks, bank money orders and travelers checks (if offered); know and understand the requirements of and how to complete Current Transaction Reports (CTRs); promote bank services and cross-selling bank through referrals; operate network computers/software and other equipment necessary to complete a transaction; participate in on-going training; to promote First State Bank in all things; awareness of and recognize when to report suspicious transactions/activity/situations to the appropriate personnel; and participating in the general upkeep and appearance of the branch. Tellers are expected to respect security procedures, to abide by all policies and practices and to appreciate our standards of conduct that make this a great work environment.
Secondary Responsibilities
- Other duties or responsibilities that may be assigned are combination and/or key control; opening and processing night depository and ATM; control of negotiable instruments and any other as assigned.
A Teller is the critical link between the Bank and our customers and carries many responsibilities. A genuine interest in serving customers is key. A successful Teller must read at a level sufficient to understand memorandums, instructions and teller-related forms; be able to write in a clear, concise and legible manner; have math skills to add, subtract, multiply and divide; be able to work alone or in a team environment; be able to work under time constraints; use good judgment and relate tactfully, respectfully and professionally with co-workers and customers.
Expectations are to perform all job duties and other responsibilities as assigned and to follow all safety rules and regulations.
Regular attendance according to the work schedule is necessary and essential as is receiving detailed information verbally, in person and by telephone. Extensive reading and computer use is expected the majority of the time.
