Job Description Summary
The purpose of this job is to administer and manage the city's Geographic Information System (GIS) datasets and maps. Creates, analyzes, and responds to internal and external GIS dataset requests.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities - The intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by employees in this job. Employees may be requested to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description Creates, develops, configures, and maintains geospatial applications and processes in an ArcGIS Enterprise Online/On-Premise hybrid environment. Troubleshoots, updates, and resolves issues with existing deployed GIS applications. Responds to data and application emergencies. Performs server maintenance, patching, and monitoring of GIS services and systems. Creates, develops, and maintains scripts, models, and processes for automation, organization, and administration. Administers, manipulates, and implements quality control of aerial photography and elevation datasets. Creates documentation of GIS infrastructure organization, application, and database configurations. Reviews and updates standard operating procedures (SOPs) to reflect current workflows and best practices. Creates and maintains web-based maps for online applications. Serves as a point of contact for providing GIS technical support to city staff. Regular attendance is a necessary and essential function. Performs other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities
No supervisory authority. Work may require providing guidance and training to others. Human Collaboration and Job Impact - This area describes the personal interaction with others outside direct reporting relationships as well as the impact the job has on organization, the department or unit objectives, the output of services, or employee or public satisfaction
Interactions may result in decisions regarding implementation of policies. Contact may involve support of controversial positions or the negotiation of sensitive issues or important presentations. Contacts may involve stressful, negative interactions with the public, requiring high levels of tact and the ability to respond to aggressive interpersonal interactions. Interactions have limited impact on the organization in terms of time, money, or public/employee relations.

Education and Experience
Bachelor's Degree in Geography, Computer Science, GIS, or related field. 3 to 5 years' experience with enterprise GIS systems.
Licenses or Certifications
None. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities which may be representative, but not all-inclusive of those commonly associated with this position
Knowledge of:
Enterprise GIS and SQL server systems, and best practices related to data creation and manipulation. ArcGIS Desktop/ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, and other ESRI software products. City server infrastructure and data flow processes. Skill in:
Performing technical troubleshooting. Programming in Python and Model Builder. Communicating verbally and in writing to meet the needs of the audience. Project management. Maintaining technical records. Ability to:
Solve GIS problems and design new data structures and system architecture. Work efficiently under pressure to identify and solve problems. Analyze and automate tasks and procedures. Establish and maintain effective working relationships. Identify and distinguish colors. Regularly use a computer, software, phone, and related office equipment. Focus on tasks. Work Environment - Environmental or atmospheric conditions commonly associated with the performance of the functions of this job

Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.
