Position Overview

We are seeking a motivated Network Engineer to join our IT infrastructure team supporting waste management operations across multiple facilities. This role involves maintaining, troubleshooting, and optimizing network systems that support critical environmental operations. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Cisco Meraki solutions and have been exposed to cloud infrastructure management.

Key Responsibilities

Network Infrastructure Management Configure, monitor, and maintain Cisco Meraki network equipment including switches, wireless access points, and security appliances Manage cloud-based network infrastructure and ensure optimal performance across all operational sites Implement and maintain network security protocols to protect operational technology (OT) and information technology (IT) systems Monitor network performance and proactively identify potential issues before they impact operations Cloud Infrastructure Support

Familiarity with managing Azure environments Support hybrid cloud environments connecting on-premises facilities with cloud services Operations Support

Provide technical support for network connectivity issues at waste and recycle processing facilities, transfer stations, and administrative offices Participate in on-call rotation for after-hours network support Project Implementation

Assist in planning and implementing network infrastructure upgrades and expansions Coordinate with vendors and contractors for network installations and maintenance Documentation & Process Management

Maintain accurate and up-to-date network documentation, including configurations, diagrams, IP schemas, and standard operating procedures to support operational continuity and troubleshooting. Create and manage documentation for network changes, support workflows, and compliance requirements, ensuring alignment with internal policies and IT best practices.

Working Conditions

Standard office environment with occasional travel to waste management facilities Some weekend and after-hours work may be required for maintenance windows Ability to work in industrial environments when supporting on-site operations Participation in on-call rotation for critical network support #CRRMSC

Required Qualifications

Experience & Education

1-3 years of hands-on network engineering experience Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; or equivalent work experience Experience with Cisco Meraki dashboard, configuration, and troubleshooting Exposure to cloud infrastructure management (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform) Technical Skills

Proficiency with network hardware such as routers, switches, firewalls and load balancers Familiarity with Cisco Meraki wireless, switching, and security appliances Understanding of the OSI model Understanding of network protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, VPNs) Experience with cloud networking concepts and implementation Network security skills including firewall configuration, VPN implementation, intrusion detection systems, and understanding of security protocols Familiarity with network monitoring and management tools Core Competencies

Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities Excellent communication skills for technical and non-technical stakeholders Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities Customer service orientation with focus on supporting operational needs
