Day-to-Day:
The Firmware Architect will lead the design and development of scalable, high-performance firmware systems for Whiskers smart pet products. Daily responsibilities include hands-on coding in C/C++, collaborating with hardware and product teams to translate business needs into technical solutions, and mentoring firmware engineers. The role involves conducting code reviews, ensuring secure and reliable firmware across IoT devices, and driving architectural decisions. 15+ years firmware engineering experience 5+ years as firmware architect 5+ years low-level embedded systems development Degree in Computer/Electrical/Firmware Engineering or equivalent Expert in C/C++ Strong embedded firmware design knowledge IoT product deployment experience (secure & scalable) Skilled in debugging tools & hardware integration Familiar with secure cloud-connected device ecosystems Strong leadership & communication skills Proficient in architecture modeling/design tools Agile development experience Project management capability Comfortable in pet-friendly office Nice to Have: Experience with AWS tools: CloudWatch, AppSync, CloudTrail, API Gateway, Cognito, VPC Familiarity with relational databases and Kinesis Stream Passion for pet tech and innovation Experience mentoring and leading firmware teams
