Role
In support of AltaOne Federal Credit Union's Vision, Mission, Values, and Culture, the Data Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining data infrastructure and business intelligence solutions that drive data-driven decision-making across the organization. Major Duties and Responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes to integrate data from various sources into the data warehouse.
Ensure data quality, consistency, and reliability throughout the data pipeline.
Develop and maintain data models, schemas, and metadata to support business intelligence and analytics needs.
Collaborate with data architects to design scalable and efficient data architectures.
Create and maintain dashboards, reports, and visualizations using BI tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Looker).
Work closely with business stakeholders to understand their requirements and deliver actionable insights.
Optimize database queries and BI solutions for performance and scalability.
Monitor and troubleshoot data pipelines and BI systems to ensure high availability and reliability.
Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and other stakeholders to understand data needs and deliver solutions.
Communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders effectively.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Knowledge and Skills
Experience
Two to Five years of similar or related experience, including time spent in preparatory positions. Proven experience as a Data Engineer, BI Developer, or similar role. Strong experience with SQL and database management systems (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server). Experience with ETL tools (e.g., Apache Nifi, Talend, Informatica) and data integration techniques. Proficiency in BI tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Looker). Knowledge of data warehousing concepts and technologies (e.g., Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery). Familiarity with programming languages (e.g., Python, Java, Scala) for data processing.
Education/Certifications/Licenses
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, or a related field or equivalent experience.
Interpersonal Skills
A significant level of trust, credibility and diplomacy is required. In-depth dialogue, conversations and explanations with customers, direct and indirect reports and outside vendors can be of a sensitive and/or highly confidential nature. Communications may involve motivating, influencing, educating and/or advising others on matters of significance. Typically includes subject matter experts as well as first level to middle managers.

Physical Requirements
Is able to bend, sit, and stand in order to perform primarily sedentary work with limited physical exertion and occasional lifting of up to 10 lbs. Must be capable of climbing / descending stairs in an emergency situation. Must be able to operate routine office equipment including computer terminals and keyboards, telephones, copiers, facsimiles, and calculators. Must be able to routinely perform work on computer for an average of 6-8 hours per day, when necessary. Must be able to work extended hours or travel off site whenever required or requested by management. Must be capable of regular, reliable and timely attendance.
Working Conditions
Must be able to routinely perform work indoors in climate-controlled shared work area with minimal noise.
Mental and/or Emotional Requirements
Must be able to perform job functions independently or with limited supervision and work effectively either on own or as part of a team. Must be able to read and carry out various written instructions and follow oral instructions. Must be able to complete basic mathematical calculations, spell accurately, and understand computer basics.
