Atlas Machine and Supply's Turbomachinery Division is seeking a skilled and motivated Turbomachinery Service Technician to join our growing team. This position involves hands-on service and support of high-performance compressed air equipment and air treatment systems including centrifugal air compressors, large oil-free rotary screw compressors, and reciprocating compressors. You will play a key role in the inspection, installation, troubleshooting, and repair of these critical systems at customer facilities across Kentucky, Ohio, Indiana, and Tennessee. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Install, commission, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair centrifugal compressors and other turbomachinery systems at customer sites. Perform major overhauls, alignments, and internal inspections following OEM specifications and tolerances. Execute routine maintenance and diagnostics using vibration analysis, temperature, pressure, and flow data. Read and interpret technical drawings, manuals, wiring diagrams, and schematics; use precision measuring tools per OEM standards. Prepare detailed service reports and documentation; submit accurate time and expense entries promptly. Maintain strong communication with customers and internal support teams; serve as a technical advisor and assist with training when needed. Identify improvement opportunities, implement solutions, and ensure compliance with all safety protocols and company policies. REQUIREMENTS: High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree in mechanical or electrical engineering preferred, or 3–5 years of relevant field experience. 3+ years of experience servicing centrifugal air compressors or similar rotating equipment, including oil-free compressor installation and repair. Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude with the ability to read technical documentation and schematics. Proficiency in hand and power tools; excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking skills. Strong communication, interpersonal skills, and attention to detail; ability to work independently or as part of a team. Strong customer service and communication skills. Ability to work independently and problem-solve in dynamic environments. Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement. Strong organizational and reporting capabilities. Willingness to adapt and grow with a fast-moving, team-oriented division. Ability to lift and move heavy equipment and materials; stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks. Comfortable working in confined spaces and at heights. Flexible schedule to work nights, weekends, and overtime as needed, primarily in Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky, and Tennessee. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience with FS-Elliott, Ingersoll Rand, Sullair, and other major centrifugal and rotary screw OEMs. Working knowledge of dryers, filtration systems, and cooling towers. HVAC/Electrical or Military mechanical background. EPA 608, F-GAS 303/2008, or equivalent refrigeration certifications. Formal training or associate degree in Electrical Technology, Mechanical Systems, or a related field. PLC troubleshooting and controls understanding a plus.
