nJob Description - Reliability Engineer I, II, III, IV or Principal
nPosition Description
nThe Reliability Engineer will deliver insights into equipment reliability, risk mitigation, and cost savings. They will execute reliability programs focused on defect elimination and operational efficiency, supporting the establishment of global asset management technical trends and thought leadership.
nPosition-Related Responsibilities
n· Conducts field investigation of failed and problem equipment and works closely with personnel in acquiring failed equipment evidence needed to perform comprehensive reliability studies.
n· Develop and maintain reliability database for extraction of system outage and failed material data for trending and reporting of performance.
n· Acts as Liaison with reliability and benchmarking consultants, providing consistent reliability data for external studies. Develop rapport with utility industry peers and professionals for collaborative exchange of system reliability and performance information.
n· Conducts specialized studies regarding equipment performance, maintenance practices and equipment failure rates to ensure optimum system reliability. Experience with Root Cause Failure Analysis is preferred.
n· Demonstrates a commitment to reliability program strategies, effective communication, coordination, and team building skills in implementing reliability programs. Serve on ad hoc teams and multi-disciplined projects as a participant or leader.
n· Assist other engineering personnel with the integration of performance data into RCM and other maintenance strategies, providing expert advice on optimizing preventive maintenance and work management processes to increase productivity and reliability.
n· Develops a working knowledge of Work Management and Maintenance Management systems within the company. Must be competent in personal computer operation.
n· Perform independent, comprehensive technical studies and make recommendations in a timely fashion. Assess data from both a high level and detailed view, incorporating sound logic, viable alternatives, and budgetary guidelines.
n· Reports to area Supervisor and perform other assignments as requested.
n· This position may provide services to affiliates of the Company subject to the UNS Energy Code of Conduct and the related Policies and Procedures.

nWill have primary responsibility for small modification or revision projects.
nWill assist more experienced engineers in large projects.
nWill assist in the review and revision of material and design standards.
nRequires BS degree in Reliability Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering (with an emphasis in power related classes),or closely related discipline. and less than two years professional experience in an engineering role.
nRequires close supervision and detailed instruction for tasks and expected results.
nIs a self-starter and has developed good time management skills, completing all assignments on time.
nEngineer II
nWill have primary responsibility for medium sized projects and act as the project engineer/manager.
nWill assist more experienced engineers in large projects.
nMay be assigned to perform technical studies as needed.
nMay have several projects assigned at the same time.
nRequires two or more years professional experience as an Engineer I, or Masters degree in Electrical Engineering, Reliability Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or similar.
nShall have strong analytical capabilities and requires close supervision on new aspects of assignments.
nIs a self-starter and has developed good time management skills, completing all assignments on time.

nWill direct the designs of technicians when necessary.
nCan represent TEP when meeting with other Companies or organizations.
nRequires two or more years professional experience as an Engineer II.
nRequires technical guidance and supervision on non-standard project assignments.
nIs a self-starter and has developed good time management skills, completing all assignments on time.
nHas developed good leadership skills and is fully comfortable leading meetings and speaking in front of others.
nEngineer IV
nWill have primary responsibility for projects of any size or complexity and act as the project engineer/manager.
nMay be assigned to perform technical studies as needed.
nMay have several projects assigned at the same time and may assist other engineers in large projects.
nFollows approved standards in design with minor modifications.
nCan represent TEP when meeting with other companies or organizations. Will assist in training of less experienced engineers or technicians.
nRequires two or more years professional experience as an Engineer III.
nIs able to work independently on most projects but needs technical guidance on unusual or complex projects, and supervisory approval on proposed plans.
nTime management, technical knowledge, and economic consideration are exhibited in all assignments.
nBasic leadership skills have been developed.
nPrincipal Engineer
nA top-level individual contributor who may be assigned complex, multiple projects that are within the section’s responsibilities.
nApproves design changes and creates new design standards.
nProvides leadership to the section from a technical standpoint.
nWill be the primary source of technical training for the section and will share information openly.
nWill be the first option in performing technical studies and applying new designs and technical solutions.
nCan represent TEP when meeting with other Companies or organizations.
nPrimary focus will be on technical development.
nThey may be assigned as a mentor to new or less experienced engineers in the section from a technical standpoint.
nNeeds guidance only on overall objectives, policy matters or critical issues.
nRequires two or more years professional experience as an Engineer IV.
nProficient in all aspects of time management, project organization, and technical analysis.
nMakes decisions independently and does not require guidance or supervision on any technical or project management duty.
nSupports all decision making with superior technical knowledge and economic analysis.
nHas genuine interest in technical areas and further increasing technical knowledge in their specific area.
