The Senior Industrial Engineer, Excellence plays a critical role in advancing Burlington Stores, Inc.'s supply chain objectives by leading and supporting engineering-driven initiatives. The role will manage various project tasks-including ideation, business case development, implementation, change management, and value realization-while partnering closely with key stakeholders across Distribution Center Operations and Transportation.

Project Design

    Identify productivity and process improvement opportunities through data analysis and actionable recommendations.

  • n

    Conduct DC observations, understand current operations, and collaborate with subject matter experts from corporate to site-level teams.

    Develop robust project plans with clear milestones and timelines using an engineering mindset.

  • n

Project Implementation

n
    n
  • n

    Lead supply chain improvement initiatives through cross-functional DMAIC projects.

    n
  • n
  • n

    Create and manage project documentation, including project charters and Gantt charts, to ensure stakeholder alignment.

  • n

    Proactively identify and resolve potential roadblocks to maintain project timelines.

    n
  • n
  • n

    Support the design and implementation of material handling equipment for new, expanded, or existing facilities.

  • n

Value Capture

    Use data analysis to validate project hypotheses and measure improvement outcomes.

  • n
  • n

    Conduct work sampling, return on investment (ROI) analysis, and cost/benefit analysis to support project decision-making.

    Ensure successful transition of project ownership to operational teams post-implementation.

    Design tools, reports, and documentation to track and sustain long-term project results.

Additional Responsibilities

    Onsite presence is required five days per week.

    Occasional night and/or weekend shifts may be required based on business needs.

    Participate in ad hoc assignments, including complex cross-functional initiatives aligned with business objectives.

You'll Come With

    n
  • n

    Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering or similar area of study.

    n
  • n
  • n

    4-8 years of experience in process and material handling system design, work measurement, productivity improvement, cost reduction, and project implementation.

    n
  • n
  • n

    Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt preferred.

    n
  • n
  • n

    Project Management certification preferred.

    n
  • n
  • n

    Strong ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

    n
  • n
  • n

    Proficiency in work measurement methodologies (especially time studies) and best methods development.

    n
  • n
  • n

    Experience in developing and maintaining management observation and accountability programs.

    n
  • n
  • n

    Familiarity with productivity tracking and data collection systems.

    n
  • n
  • n

    Experience with Standard Data and Predetermined Time Systems.

  • n
  • n

    Ability to conduct cost analysis for project justification.

    n
  • n
  • n

    Strong analytical, planning, and problem-solving skills.

  • n

    Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint, Visio).

    Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

    Working knowledge of DC operations within a national logistics network.

  • n

    Familiarity with statistical analysis, operations research, and line balancing.

    Hands-on experience with material handling systems and automation.

  • n

    SQL database querying and use of BI tools/languages.

    n
  • n
  • n

    Experience with Manhattan Associates Supply Chain Suite and Dematic WCS functionality.

    Capable of lifting up to 40 pounds during method testing or system start-ups.
